Every once in a while, something ordinary stops you in your tracks. For me, it was one of my mom’s half-finished projects—something she set down one day and simply never picked back up. And it made me think about how often we do the same thing in midlife. We pause a habit, skip a routine, or take a “temporary break”…and suddenly the thing that used to feel easy feels impossible.
This isn’t about grief. It’s about awareness—how capacity fades when practice stops, and how noticing it can motivate us to reclaim the skills, hobbies, and strengths we still want.
What capacity do you want to renew in midlife?
